LinkedIn connection problems

Fix issues connecting LinkedIn to Clients.ai

Can't connect LinkedIn at all

Error: "connection failed"

Try these in order:

  1. Use OAuth method (not cookie or credentials)
  2. Make sure you're logged into LinkedIn first
  3. Try from different browser
  4. Disable VPN if you're using one
  5. Clear cookies and try again

Error: "account restricted"

This means:

  • LinkedIn detected automated activity
  • You need to verify you're human
  • Wait 24 hours before trying again

To fix:

  1. Go to LinkedIn.com directly
  2. Complete any verification LinkedIn asks for
  3. Use LinkedIn manually for a few days
  4. Then try connecting to Clients.ai again

Popup window closes immediately

This is a browser problem:

  • Check if popup blocker is on
  • Allow popups for app.clients.ai
  • Try different browser
  • Make sure JavaScript is enabled

Connection keeps dropping

"reconnect LinkedIn" message appearing

Common causes:

  1. You changed your LinkedIn password
  2. LinkedIn security detected unusual activity
  3. You revoked Clients.ai access in LinkedIn settings
  4. Session expired (happens after 30 days)

Fix:

  • Just click "Reconnect"
  • Follow the prompts
  • Use OAuth method

Works for a day then stops

This is LinkedIn's security:

  • They're monitoring for automation
  • Solution: Use LinkedIn manually every day too
  • Post manually once or twice a week
  • Comment on others' posts
  • This shows LinkedIn you're a real person

LinkedIn agent not posting

Posts aren't appearing on LinkedIn

Check these first:

  1. Go to your Clients.ai dashboard
  2. Check if posts are actually scheduled (Flow → Traffic Agents)
  3. Wait 24-48 hours (posts queue up)
  4. Look at YOUR LinkedIn profile - are posts there?

Posts scheduled but never publish

Likely causes:

  • LinkedIn disconnected (reconnect it)
  • You hit LinkedIn's posting limits
  • LinkedIn flagged posts as spam
  • Your account is restricted

LinkedIn limits:

  • Free account: ~5-10 posts per day
  • Premium: ~25 posts per day
  • If you schedule 50 posts, they'll queue over several days

LinkedIn says "this looks automated"

You triggered their spam detector:

  1. Post less frequently
  2. Vary your content more
  3. Don't use the exact same format every time
  4. Add manual posts between automated ones

Recovery:

  • Pause LinkedIn Agent for 1 week
  • Post manually during that week
  • Slowly restart Agent at lower frequency

Permission issues

"need additional permissions" error

What happened:

  • You didn't grant all permissions during setup
  • Solution: Disconnect and reconnect
  • When connecting, click "Allow" for ALL permissions

Can't access LinkedIn connections/messages

Different permission levels:

  • Posting: Just needs basic access
  • Messaging: Needs messaging permissions
  • Contacts: Needs full profile access

To fix:

  • Disconnect LinkedIn completely
  • Reconnect using OAuth
  • Grant all requested permissions

Rate limiting

"too many requests" from LinkedIn

You're doing too much too fast:

  • LinkedIn has strict limits
  • Default Clients.ai settings are safe
  • If you manually increased frequency, decrease it

Safe posting schedule:

  • 2-3 posts per week (safest)
  • 1 post per day (moderate)
  • Multiple posts per day (risky)

LinkedIn connection issues

"LinkedIn connection error"

First try:

  1. Wait 15 minutes and try again
  2. If still broken, disconnect and reconnect LinkedIn

Service down

How to know:

  • Everyone is having issues (not just you)
  • Check Clients.ai status page
  • Email hi@clients.ai

What to do:

  • Wait for it to come back up (usually < 1 hour)
  • Your scheduled posts will publish once it's back

Account safety

Will using Clients.ai get my LinkedIn banned?

Short answer: No, if you use it correctly

Safe practices:

  • Don't post more than 3x per week
  • Keep content valuable (not spammy)
  • Also use LinkedIn manually
  • Don't connect multiple accounts
  • Don't run on a brand new LinkedIn profile

Risky practices:

  • Posting 10x per day
  • Same content every time
  • Only automated activity
  • Using on accounts less than 30 days old

My LinkedIn got restricted

This sucks, but here's how to recover:

  1. Go to LinkedIn directly
  2. Complete their verification process
  3. Wait the restriction period (usually 7 days)
  4. Use LinkedIn manually for 2 weeks
  5. Then reconnect to Clients.ai at low frequency

Prevent it happening again:

  • Lower your posting frequency
  • Vary content more
  • Post manually too

Testing connection

How to verify it's working

  1. Go to Settings → Social Integrations
  2. See green checkmark next to LinkedIn
  3. Click "Test Connection"
  4. Should say "Connected successfully"

If test fails:

  • Disconnect
  • Wait 5 minutes
  • Reconnect

How to see what's being posted

  1. Go to your Flow
  2. Click Traffic Agents tab
  3. See scheduled posts list
  4. Click any post to preview it
  5. Check your actual LinkedIn profile after posting time

Email hi@clients.ai if:

  • You've tried everything here

  • Screenshot of error message
  • Your LinkedIn account age
  • How often you're trying to post
  • Whether you use LinkedIn manually too
