I was looking at a post we almost cut when the replies changed... I used to think more attention meant more demand. That assumption held up just long enough to become expensive. The short-term moves looked smart. The longer-term cost was attracting people who liked the content but never saw themselves in the work.

I used to think more attention meant more demand.
That assumption held up just long enough to become expensive.
The short-term moves looked smart. The longer-term cost was attracting people who liked the content but never saw themselves in the work.
Five places I now look instead:
1. Broad reach → specific recognition
Before, we tried to make the message useful to everybody. After, we named the exact situation one kind of buyer was already living with.
Fewer people nodded, but the right people started replying with their actual problem.
2. More proof → better proof
A pile of outcomes can still feel distant. One specific before-and-after gives someone a way to place themselves inside the story.
Trust research has been pointing here for years - people believe what they can understand and connect to, not just what sounds impressive.
3. More content → clearer pattern
Publishing constantly can win attention for a week and still leave nobody knowing what you help with.
The durable move is repeating the same useful idea from different angles until the right person recognises the pattern.
4. Faster follow-up → more relevant follow-up
Speed feels like good service, but a fast generic reply can confirm that nobody was really listening.
The better handoff carries one detail from the original conversation forward. That small bit of context does a lot of work.
5. More calls to action → one obvious next step
When every post asks for something different, the audience has to work out how to work with you.
Make the next step simple enough that the right person can take it without entering “research mode” first.
The lever wasn't getting more people to look.
It was making it easier for the right people to recognise themselves when they did.
