Before you say "that's luck" - I watched it happen at 9:17 AM in Austin, and the lever was obvious. (Yes, it was on a client call - no confetti, just a quiet click.) I was watching a founder, Maya, fumble through a 6‑minute qualification script she'd rewritten six times.

I was watching a founder, Maya, fumble through a 6‑minute qualification script she'd rewritten six times. For two weeks it felt like polishing the same lamp - no new light. Then one small change landed and the funnel stopped lying to her.
What I saw (and what matters):
1) She stopped managing how it looked - she made one promise and only promised clients things she could deliver reliably (simple, believable).
2) She moved the trust-signal forward - one concrete example in the first 90 seconds (a real number, a time, a tiny case detail) that stopped prospects from doing mental gymnastics.
3) She tightened the workflow - fewer moving parts, one automation that did the handoff cleanly instead of fifty manual nudges (this small thing took the noise out of the convo).
The result - fewer performative demos, more real yeses. It wasn't sexy - just honest and repeatable. Also, took me two calls to notice it - apparently I was distracted by my own spreadsheet, classic. (teh founder deserved the win.)
If you're chasing looks, you'll keep chasing them. If you make one promise and keep it often - people start raising their hands.
